Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Alabama CPA(“we”) collects on alabamacpa.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we operate a referral service. When you ask to be matched with a CPA, the information you give us is shared with the firms we match you with — that is the product working as intended. We don't sell your information to anyone else.

Information we collect

• Matching requests. When you submit the match form we collect the service you need, whether the request is for a business or an individual, your city, an optional budget range, your name, email, optional phone number, and any details you add.
• Firm accounts. When a firm owner claims a profile we collect their name, email, and verification information.
• Usage data. Standard server logs and, if enabled, privacy-respecting analytics (page views, referrers). We do not run cross-site advertising trackers.

How we use and share it

• Matching requests are shared with matched CPA firms. We forward your request — including your contact details — to a small number of licensed Alabama firms that fit your stated needs so they can respond to you. We may receive fees from firms in connection with introductions.
• We use your email to confirm your request and follow up on it. We do not add you to marketing lists without asking.
• We use service providers to run the site — hosting (Vercel), database (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), and payments (Stripe, for firm subscriptions only). Each processes data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
• We disclose information if required by law or to protect the service from abuse.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your personal information to data brokers.
• We don't share matching requests beyond the firms we match you with.
• We never see or store firm payment card details — Stripe handles those.

Directory listings

Firm listings are compiled from public records, primarily the Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy license roster. If a listing about you or your firm is inaccurate, or you want it removed, email hello@alabamacpa.com and we'll process the request within five business days.

Affiliate links

Some guide pages contain affiliate links (for example, CPA exam review courses). If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on the pages where they appear and never determine our editorial recommendations.

Retention and security

Matching requests are retained while useful for providing the service and then deleted or anonymized. Lead data is stored with restricted, server-side-only access. To request deletion of your data, email hello@alabamacpa.com.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
